Delete your account

Last updated: May 25, 2026

You can ask Wamid to delete your account and personal data at any time, for any reason — no questions asked, no retention argument.

What "your account" actually means today

Wamid is local-first. Most of what you might call "your account" already lives only on your device. To make deletion transparent, here's exactly what exists where:

  • On wamid.app (waitlist): your email, the date you joined, your approximate country (inferred from IP at the moment of submission) and your browser's user agent.
  • In the Android app: your notes, reminders, habits and settings — stored on your device only. We do not have a copy on our servers.
  • No sync, no cloud account, no profile photo, no contacts: the app does not collect, send or sync any of this in the current version.

Three ways to delete

1. From the Android app (recommended)

Open the app, then go to Menu → Settings → Privacy & data → Delete all my data. This action:

  • Erases all your notes, reminders, habits and settings from the device.
  • Cancels all pending notifications.
  • Is immediate and cannot be undone — no soft-delete, no grace period.

You can then uninstall the app or keep it and start from scratch.

2. By email (for the waitlist account)

Send a message from the email address registered on the waitlist to contact@wamid.app with the subject "Delete my Wamid account". You don't need to explain why — a single line is enough.

We confirm by email within 48 hours (Monday to Friday) and the actual deletion happens within 7 days maximum, including from our backups.

3. By simply uninstalling the app

Because the Android app is local-first, uninstalling it from your device removes everything Wamid knew about you on that device. No server-side data remains, because there was never any to begin with.

If you also want your waitlist email gone, follow option 2 above in parallel.

Google Play users: this page satisfies the Google Play Data deletion URL requirement. You can request deletion of the data Wamid holds about you without installing or signing into the app.

What gets deleted, and what gets kept

Deleted within 7 days of your request:

  • Your email address from our active database.
  • The metadata associated with your waitlist signup (date, country, user agent).
  • Any pending unsent email targeting your address.

Kept (anonymized, no link to you):

  • Aggregated, non-personal counters required to operate the service (for example: "number of waitlist signups per month") — these contain no identifier of yours.
  • Log lines required by hosting providers (Cloudflare) for security and abuse prevention. These follow Cloudflare's retention policy and are not under our control.

Timing

  • App-side deletion: instant.
  • Email account deletion: confirmation under 48 h, full deletion under 7 days.
  • Backups: we keep encrypted backups for up to 30 days for disaster recovery. After deletion, your data will be purged from the backup rotation within that window. Backups are never restored for any other purpose than recovering from a critical outage.

If you change your mind

Deletion is permanent. There is no "restore" once it's done. If you want to come back later, you can simply join the waitlist again or reinstall the app from Google Play — but no previous data will reappear.

Identity check

To prevent someone else from deleting your account, we only act on a request sent from the email address registered on the waitlist. If you no longer have access to that address, contact us and we'll work out a reasonable way to verify it's you.

Your other rights

Deletion is one of several rights you have. You can also ask for:

  • A copy of the data we hold about you (data portability).
  • Correction of any inaccurate information.
  • To opt out of any future communication.

See the full Privacy policy for the complete picture.
